2025 Individual Planning: Trump Accounts, PTET, and SALT Planning

October 7th 2pm EST

Live Webinar
$54.97

The 2025 filing season brings sweeping updates under the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA). From the introduction of Trump Accounts for minors to expanded SALT deduction limits, shifting AMT calculations, evolving PTET elections, and an array of new deductions (including tips, overtime, auto loan interest, and senior exemptions), tax professionals face both opportunities and challenges. This IRS-approved 2-hour webinar breaks down what’s changing, how to apply the rules in practice, and the strategies that can minimize liability and maximize benefits for your clients.

Led by Jason Dinesen, EA, this session explores real-world examples, planning insights, and the compliance issues that will shape 2025 and beyond.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Explain Trump Accounts — eligibility, contribution rules, rollover provisions, and employer/govt contributions, including how basis is tracked when accounts convert to IRAs.

  2. Apply SALT deduction expansion rules — calculate phasedown reductions, plan around $40,000 caps, and recognize how these interact with high-income taxpayers.

  3. Evaluate PTET elections — compare benefits under the $40,000 SALT cap, determine AGI reduction strategies, and assess state-level opportunities.

  4. Assess AMT impact — analyze case studies under OBBB rules and identify income levels where AMT could still apply despite higher exemptions.

  5. Implement new deductions — apply rules for tips, overtime, car loan interest, and senior exemption deductions, including phaseouts and compliance challenges.

  6. Advise on charitable contribution planning — understand bunching strategies, the 0.5% AGI haircut in 2026, and the return of non-itemizer deductions.

  7. Recognize other planning opportunities — including dependent care credits, educator expenses, wagering losses, and limits on itemized deductions.
